Overview

I SURVIVED CAO BANG LOOP: 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS

"The Land of Waterfalls & Hidden Wonders"

If Ha Giang is a "rebellion" through rocky peaks, Cao Bang is an odyssey through lush valleys and majestic waters. Our 3D2N Cao Bang Expedition takes you beyond the usual tourist trails to the northeastern frontier of Vietnam. It’s a journey of raw nature, prehistoric caves, and the roaring Ban Gioc—one of the world's most beautiful border waterfalls.

  • Duration: 3 Days / 2 Nights

  • Vibe: Majestic, Tranquil, and Authentic

  • Best for: Nature lovers, photography enthusiasts, and those seeking a "softer" but equally stunning alternative to the rugged Ha Giang Loop.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Cao Bang City – Ma Phuc Pass – Angel Eye Mountain – Quang Uyen

    • The Ride: Conquer the 7-level Ma Phuc Pass, one of the most famous passes in the Northeast.

    • The Mystery: Visit Angel Eye Mountain (Nui Mat Than), a unique geological wonder with a giant hole piercing the peak, surrounded by a peaceful valley of grazing horses.

    • Stay: Overnight in a traditional Nung ethnic homestay in a village famous for blacksmithing.

  • Day 2: Quang Uyen – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Khuoi Ky Village

    • The Icon: Spend your morning at Ban Gioc Waterfall. Take a bamboo raft to the foot of the falls to feel the mist on your face.

    • The Underground: Explore Nguom Ngao Cave, a 2km long labyrinth of golden stalactites shaped like lotus flowers and mythical creatures.

    • The Heritage: Check-in at Khuoi Ky Stone Village, where houses are built entirely of stone, dating back hundreds of years.

  • Day 3: Khuoi Ky – Pac Bo Historical Site – Khau Coc Cha Pass – Return

    • The Peace: Visit Pac Bo, where the turquoise Lenin Stream flows through a serene forest.

    • The Challenge: Tackle the legendary Khau Coc Cha Pass with its 15 steep switchbacks—a must-do for any adventure rider.

    • Finish: Head back to Cao Bang City (or transfer to Ha Giang/Hanoi).

Essential Tips for the "Rebels"

  • Bring your Passport: Essential for border registrations near Ban Gioc Waterfall.

  • Water-ready Gear: Bring swimwear and a waterproof bag for your phone/camera when visiting the waterfalls.

  • Cash is King: ATMs are rare once you leave the city. Bring enough VND for local snacks and "Happy Water."

  • Footwear: Sturdy shoes with good grip are a must for exploring Nguom Ngao Cave (it can be slippery!).

  • Respect the Border: You are on the frontier with China; follow your guide’s instructions regarding photography and border markers
